We are over half way thru November now. I can’t believe how quickly it’s flying by! This past weekend, I began decorating for Christmas indoors and I’m loving how it’s coming along. I’d like to show you how to decorate for Christmas using a Winter Wonderland Theme.
I’ve been scoping out the Christmas décor in stores the past week or so and right now is when the stores are fully stocked, so if you’re thinking about changing your décor up this year, now is the time to head out and grab those decorations.
Choose Your Theme.
This year, similar to last year, I am going with a Winter Wonderland theme with red plaid accents. Last year, I was inspired by @kristywicks with her plaid décor, so I veered off in that direction and it turned out beautifully. This year, I am continuing on with the red plaid accents only I’m adding more of it. It’s more of a traditional look, but that pop of red speaks Christmas volumes!
I have this warm and cozy plaid throw hanging out of this wicker basket. I purchased two last year from HomeSense, but I did find another similar one at Terra Gardens in Waterdown, ON. I am waiting for them to call me to pick it up. Once I have it, I’ll be sure to share it here.
Decorating the Mantel & Livingroom.
The fireplace mantel is always my favourite area to style. Our home is over 100 years old and has an original coal burning fireplace. Unfortunately, we haven’t used it in over 10 years due to the crack at the back of the insert, but it’s still a gorgeous feature in our home.
The garland is made up of two separate garlands: an evergreen garland and a eucalyptus garland that I purchased from Amazon Canada here. I also added some faux cranberry picks and another evergreen pick I had on hand. The finishing touches where the red and gold bows and the warm white string lights that I purchased from Walmart Canada. It’s perfect and I love how cozy and traditional it makes our living space feel.
