We are officially into Fall and I am still just slowly getting into my Fall décor, so I’m a little behind, but I am loving what we have going on so far, so I thought I’d take you on a little tour of our home so I can share my ideas and sources where possible.
Let’s start off with our Foyer. It’s a great size for our 100-year old home which I love when guests arrive. I’ve lived in homes with very little foyer or entry way and I’ve always found it so constricting, so I feel incredibly blessed to have such a good sized foyer. Here, I don’t have very much surface space but I worked with what I had.
On the console table beside our front door, I added a neutral runner, switched out the older stems for these orange and yellow eucalyptus bushes I found at Michaels Canada which coordinated so beautifully with the muted blues in our home. I also clipped some hydrangeas from our garden and let them dry in this terracotta pot. I added a simple neutral wood bead garland and some starfish and a seashell to be consistent with the coastal décor theme in our home. It’s not overstated in my opinion and can easily be switched out from season to season.
In our livingroom, I continued to keep things relatively simply. On the mantel, I switched out the older stems for the same orange and yellow eucalyptus bushes I used in the foyer. They look so pretty in this blue glass vase that I found in Port Dover, ON, at the Grand Trunk Station Gift Shop. I also brought out the faux pumpkins I had from previous years that I had intended to paint, but never did get around to painting. I guess it was a blessing in disguise because I like them as is.
On one of my cupboards, I have two blue glass stacked pumpkins, which oddly enough double as snowmen over the holidays (LOL) Do you agree? Right now, anything glass in my house makes me nervous since we have some new kittens in the house. They are almost 4 months old and are into everything. They especially love the eucalyptus stems!
Adding candles throughout the house is also an easy way to decorate. I’ve chosen orange candles that smell heavenly of cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. I found them at HomeSense Canada.
In my dining room, I’ve added a simple centrepiece to our new diningroom table. Which reminds me! … I haven’t created a blog about my diningroom table yet. I must do that soon! The centrepiece consists of cute little knitted pumpkins that were purchased by a local vendor @knitallica She custom made three pumpkins for me last year and I am so in love with them. I’ve also added oversized pinecones, jute rope balls and this lantern with the orange candle inside, all purchased from Michaels Canada and sit inside this gorgeous wicker tray which I purchased from HomeSense. You can use any tray or basket you have kicking around the house. I went with the natural tray to keep that coastal feel present in my home.
Decorating for Fall can be done in so many ways. I chose to decorate for Fall by incorporating the same coastal feel I do the rest of the year. So, don’t be afraid to work with what you have. There are no rules for how you should decorate for Fall. Do what you love!
